the bovine growth hormone is responsible for so many children developing earlier and growing taller than in, say, the eighties? I don't remember girls menstrating at age 9, or growing to be 5' 5'' at age 10.

Thanks "Kendra", but that has nothing to do with my question.

Oh absolutely! Researchers discovered the link between child development and HGH several years ago. The FDA did us no favors when they approved the use of HGH in livestock.

When I was pregnant in 1984 my feet grew 1 1/2 size, literally. This was inexplainable until I read the Research Study about HGH used in livestock.

Supposedly the FDA cracked down on HGH use, but I don't think it's stopped. We can thank the FDA for giving us bleached white flour and refined white sugar -- the leading contributors to the obesity and diabetic epidemic we're seeing, also. We can thank the FDA for approving Equal and Splenda, both contain known carcinogens, which contribute to obesity and untold human suffering ... even death. Pigs are in the parlor when the money's green! Lobbyists control our food supply!

Anybody's best bet is to buy livestock straight from the farmer. Make sure beef is grass fed. Make sure chickens are free range. Commercially raised livestock is anything BUT natural.

Organic produce is also more nutritionally beneficial, as well. The produce we get at the grocer is generally harvested before it's ripe so it is robbed of soil nutrients. If you can't find organic and/or can't grow your own, then buy frozen. The frozen produce is harvested closer to maturation, thus receives more soil nutrients, and is packaged and shipped quickly.

I definately think that hormones in our food can cause our children to develop faster. I have been very careful about buying milk/dairy from hormone free cows and eggs from organic fed chickens. (Just because it says they are hormone free or free range/organically fed doesn't mean they are. do your research into where they come from!) My kids aren't at the age that they will be going through puberty yet, but I'm sure it will happen soon enough! I just hope that by being careful about what we are eating, that it won't happen too soon. (I know I can't control what's in all of their food, but I hope what I can helps!)

To be honest, yes I've noticed the earlier development with my kids, just haven't given much thought to why.
Something else to worry about!
Probably too busy with the orthodontist telling me these days kids have a "modern" mouth - too small a jaw to accommodate the number of teeth!! thanks I'll check it out.

i think it has to do with chemically engineered foods and all these foods with added hormones. it sad because kids are developing way faster these years.
