You go home for a visit; Mom stocks you up with food and supplies; Dad asks if you need some money.

Ha ha, That is definetly a dad thing isn't it? My dad used to do the same as well. I think it is just because men (well most..but not all) that they are the responsible for the "cash" status of the family. Ever notice that a man almost always has money in his wallet, while a woman, quite often, doesn't. She keeps it in the bank or uses debit and he prefers to pay cash. It must be a throwback to being "the breadwinner". Good question! It brought back wonderful memories of my great dad. Thanks!

because no matter how advanced we may be as a society it's still the MAN'S job to provide financially. always has been always will be. that's why we stress about jobs and work. When we get laid off that's when the fights about money start. Men are always judged on our ability to earn. Most of us WANT to be able to be stable and provide and take care. That's what guys and dads are supposed to do. It becomes an instinct and why we feel like we're doing our jobs when we can take care of our family. Besides, it feels good knowing you take care of your kids.

PS it doesn't make what your mom does any less meaningful it's just how we do it differently.
Even if the mom and dad make the same or the mom makes more HE'S still expected to be the provider. I hope I'm not coming off sexist, just that's how I see it from a socialogical point of view?????
