If you are a Christian, do you pity those who are Athiest or of other beliefs and desire to convert them, or do you accept them for who they are?

If you are of a non-Christian belief, do you feel that Christians in your life pressure you to convert?

I've gotten a lot of pressure to convert, been accused of horrible things, all for being Pagan.
Funny thing is, I used to be a born again Christian, and left because of lack of respect for other beliefs, along with building mulit million dollar churches (when $$$ could be better spent on the homeless, the sick and what not).

Here's the deal, I'm not looking to convert or "corrupt" anyone. I don't want to take away anyone's beliefs. I just want the right to worship as I will and be left alone. I have that right, it's called the first amendment.

I do not believe in religion but i am very spiritual, although I believe in a lot of what the bible say. I believe christians as well as many other beliefs including athiest try to convert people in order to make themselves feel better. They think if other people join what they believe it will make them feel better and will assure them that they have the right idea's about life. The truth is that no one has all the mysteries of God figured out. But people just want to right and they don't want to have to search for God.

So they try to convert others to their way of thinking in hopes that it will prove that they are right about God and life. But that doesn't prove anything look how many people converted to hittlers way of thinking, but I am sure everyone would agree that he was wrong.

I certainly think that Christians are fearful of beliefs that threaten their own? Who wouldn't be fearful of 'beliefs' that have real evidence behind them?

That being said, yes, in some ways, I do feel that the Christians in my life think I should be Christian. Although, to be perfectly frank, the majority of my friends are agnostic, atheist, or simply have no opinion about religion, and I think they would accept anything I believed as long as I didn't look down on them because of it or try to convert them to my beliefs. Mostly, it's my parents who think I should be Christian. Or, not even *that* exactly, it's hard to explain. Of course, my mother would like to see me going to church and believing in God and everything, but at the same time we don't really ever talk about it. She almost acts like she pities me when I say things that imply atheism or agnosticism, when I talk about scientific things I've learned or read about, things like that, as though it's so *terribly* sad that I don't believe in God. She thinks that in order for me to be happy and to be a good person and find other good people, I need to go to church and believe in god and everything. It bothers me because I never treat Christian friends (the few I have) like that. Of course, none of my Christian friends are militantly against abortion and they support gay marriage and things like that ... but as long as they're willing to keep an open mind, I see that religion can be good for them, it can be a reassurance and a relief. They can't see that my beliefs do the same thing for me.

Are you confusing fear with pity?

Are you under the impression that one person can "convert" another? Isn't conversion something one does with one's own mind and heart?

Is it possible to disagree with something someone believes and accept them (as a friend, neighbor, co-worker, etc.) at the same time? If so, why can't a Christian disagree with a non-Christian's beliefs and still love or like them? This is a logical fallacy, friend.

I'm not afraid of other beliefs unless they threaten to harm me, you know; like threatening to cut off my head? and then proceed to do it to people like me. Yes, I do pity those who have no understanding of the gifts and provision of God. I was one of those for a very long time. Now, I know that I am acceptable to the One Who made me to have fellowship with Him. I have experienced just a little taste of that fellowship and I wait for the day that I can have it to the full measure. I am instructed by God to offer to others this knowledge of His free gift to each of us. I feel real pain (remorse) when I see those who are in as much pain as I was before trusting Him, rejecting the very idea that there even could be a Creator. Especially a loving One. Having looked at the offer from both sides, I have an understanding of why some reject Him, but I also know the freedom and joy of spirit that is beyond my circumstances, that you can't begin to understand until you are released from the prison of your own ignorance. How can you know that you have had the key in your own possession the entire time? I read about Paul, sitting in prison chained to a guard and writing to the churches he started about the wonderful freedom he is enjoying and I relate to him, not because I sit in prison, but because my schemes and dreams haven't come to fruition. I have given up scheming and dreaming for my own power and fame and wealth, now I follow His personal direction and fare much better than I ever did trying to serve myself.

I accept them for who they are, respect, their belief, but, that will not stop me from talking to them telling them truth, wether, they convert, or not, that is their choice, converting them is not for me to do, that would be impossible, since only God, or they themselves, can do that!Being fearful of other beliefs? Why?????????? Sorry I don't understand how anyone could fear someone else's beliefs that does not make sense to me!!!!!

christians in the true scence of the word are to accept people for who they are and pray that they one day see the light yes they might try to advise them but pressure no God does not force us to do things and no one is perfect so we as christians are to be christ like that is what it mean to be a christian .i hope this answers your question.

I except them even if I don't agree with them. I feel sorrow when people don't know the peace and joy I have, but all that I can do is pray, love and talk to them. I have to realize that nothing happens on my time, so it is no good forcing it down their throats.

We as christrians have been given the task to share God's good news. That is all that it is just sharing. If you want it you take it. If you don't you should read the following

In 2 Timothy read the following and see if you see yourself there.

Chapter 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

THERE IS HOPE FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING YOU

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10
