For me, it was going to a local diet doctor (in Kansas, Oklahoma) and subscribing to some pills to the tune of $60 dollars a month. My appetite did not diminish-- it disappeared entirely. I lost twenty pounds within a month. Every morning, I'd step on the scale and be a pound or two lighter than I was the day before. It was fantastic!

Unfortunately, I was not wise enough during that time to develop a workout regimine, and I gained it all back within two months when I stopped taking the pills. I'm thinking it's time to go back...

Anyway, I wondered what success others have had with various methods? Has anything ever worked for you? What was it?

You didn't gain the weight back because you never started exercising, you gained it back because you needed to eat. It's easy to lose weight while you're starving yourself and hyped up on drugs.
Losing weight takes time and losing 20 pounds in a month is not realistic. You didn't gain it over night and it won't come off over night. Just start eating healthy, getting plenty of fruits and veggies and exercise every day. A brisk walk is sufficient to start with, you needn't sweat at the gym for 2 hours a day. You'll feel better, the weight will start to come off and because you are changing your habits for good and not just temporarily, it will stay off.
Use the discover section and see what others have had to say. There are plenty of weight loss questions that have already been asked, so that means there are plenty of answer to study and create a plan from.
Good Luck

I lost 20 lbs in two months by watching my diet and working but not without the help of these supplements: a combination of Pyruvate ad L-Carnitine. I wouldn't advise taking the supplements as they are costly, for one and when you stop taking them, you gain the weight back. I'm off these supplements now and the weight loss was really slow at first.
I go to a Kinesiologist who put me on a diet and hired a personal trainer so I can work out the right way. I've lost 12 lbs so far and continue to lose an average of 2 lbs a week.

Stop taking diets!!!! They're the worst thing you can do to you're body. There's no way anyone can escape it, but you'll just have to eat the recommended daily amount of food, and exercise 10 minutes a day. It sounds like hard work, but you'll just have to do it if you want to be healthy. It doesn't matter how thin you are, but how healthy you are. Once you start feeling healthy again, the weight should start to disappear. In the end hard work is the only thing that will keep you in shape, a quick fix usually only works for a while, until the effects ware off. You don't need to pay huge fees for diet and exercise regimes, just have self control and work hard. You can do it.

I have to say it's healthy eating and exercise. I'm too lazy to count calories and create a meal plan, so I started with Weight Watchers. I didn't even have to join - there is enough independent information online where I found out the point system, how many calories they represent, and the formula to create 'new points.' So, instead of counting to 1500 calories, I count to 27 points. This, combined with walking every day for 15 to 20 minutes is helping. It's a lot simpler than most plans. I do suggest that you consult a dr first.

1. Since I am male, eat 2000 calories a day. I walk a lot during my day.

2. Watch what I eat. I have not had junk like McDonalds in years.

3. Moral: eat less and exercise more. Pills are nothing but a short cut. Everyone who keeps the weight off makes serious changes in their lives. The problem is too many Americans lack the discipline to stick to this concept.

Diets don't work and taking drugs to loose weight is dangerous and is temporary.

I found hiking at least 3-4 times a week and eating healthy (no fat, no sodas) was the answer. I looked fantastic! Size 4-6 and toned muscle.

The whole diet thing is discipline, try not to think that some wonder pill is your answer to keeping your weight off. You need to work at it and control your eating habits. Work out when you can and don't fall back to the same routine you had when you were overweight.

atkins diet.....the pounds come off very quickly..BUT you get nasty breath. the problem with any diet or pill that causes you to lose weight quickly is that eventually you will stop that diet..and you will gain all the weight plus some back in a fraction of the time that you lost it....it is a cycle that gets worse and worse everytime. from everything i have read, if you truly want to lose weight and keep it off you need to lose it gradually...drink 8 glasses of water each day and eat 6 small meals a day...it keeps your metabolism on the go...because if you skip meals your body goes into energy saving mode and your metabolism will stall right out, then you will just be hungry, tired and overweight.
