you CAN install it on more than one computer, but the second installation would technically be illegal. Each CD key is a license or you can buy volume licenses from M$.

Yes, you can. The physical disk that you have allows you to install Windows XP Home on as many machines as you want, but you are limited by the number of software keys you own and use at once.
Legally, each key may only be in use at one time.
Microsoft allows you to use each key 3 times before you must activate the key by phone.
