Can anybody provide me with simple instructions for making my computer connect automatically to the internet when my computer starts up? I have Windows XP, and a high speed connection via modem. Is it just a matter of dragging and dropping my internet connection program icon to the Startup folder? Or does it get more complicated? I would prefer not to mess around with msconfig.

Hello. Click and Drag the blue Internet Exployer 'e' icon to the center of your desktop. Lock it in place. Now, your internet will open up everytime your computer starts, as the center is the default position for the mouse cursor. good luck :-)

You have to configure the modem for this facility. However it depends on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

Is the modem broadband or dialup? If dialup, you will need to start the dialing program everytime you start the computer. Or set up explorer to automatically dial your connection when you first open the browser. If you're on broadband, you're connected everytime you start the computer, and automatically go to your browser's homepage when you start the browser.
