baking is not like cooking where one can 'cheat'. it is chemistry. the only thing you can substitute is the oil.. Use applesauce instead and your cake will come out very moist and yum! Run next door and ask for an egg from a neighbor!!! don't risk substituting that piece!

Substituting milk for water is really a waste of time, but harmless. The package product will have milk powder in it hence the addition of water. The oil is for a moist cake. You can miss the egg out but as previously stated the cake will not be as firm/stable and will be crumbly. It will not be like the picture on the fron tof the box

Yes, you don't need the egg. It will have less structure, fall apart easier. You can add milk instead of water. I would put normal flour in to the mix. Cake flour is low in glueton . Your cake will come out more like a muffin or coarser. It might even fall. So what, that is what icing is for.

Here is a thought, mix in jello. Have any jello?

Bread is made with out eggs and also made with eggs.

There are no mistakes in baking. Your cake will still taste good.

Still, go over to the neighbors and borrow an egg, but bake the cake with out the egg for fun. Sometimes finding things out this way helps learn about the process of baking. Baking is suppose to be fun. Go have fun.

sub a banana for the egg when baking a cake. I don't advise using the milk for the water.
Good luck.

the milk instead of the water will be fine but you need an egg it acts as binder and holds the batter together its only one egg go borrow one from your neighbor

Do you have some canned fruit, then at least it won't be tastless, it would taste like cobbler. But I think you should go borrow an egg. (don't most mixes use 2 or 3?)

I don't think you can subsitute anything for an egg. I would just wait until I got eggs or borrow one from someone.

The egg can NOT be substituted. It will be trash, so either wait or call a neighbor!
