No. In fact, most psychics don't do the whole feed thing. You're thinking more of psychic vampires.

they are able to sense physical particles of people
all cells hold your dna and you leave cells on everything you touch.
So if someone comes up missing, a psychic can hold an article of theirs and feel the pain of the person because even when you leave cells, they are still a part of you on a way that a psychic can see.
