What the hell is "do all those things they do" supposed to mean?
What about all "those things you've done" over the centuries?
If by "do all those things they do" you mean further science, enjoy pleasure, create entertainment to break lifes monotony, free ourselves from tyranny (both physical and religious), then we do them because you dumbasses seem to think everythings A-Ok as long as some asshole with a white robe on and is "close to god" is calling the shots. Go watch the 700 club or TBN and leave us the hell alone.
Don't you have a dying child you need to deny hospital aide too because it's against your beliefs to attend to?

Because they can. Atheists only admit to not believing in a god or gods. It is the definition of the word. Being an atheists doesn't say what a person believes, if they believe in anything.
As no atheist are alike, I'm not sure what things you refer to in your question.
Atheists do the things they do because they prefer reason over faith.

Like live happy and peaceful lives? Or perhaps help the needy, the poor, the impoverished?.... or do you mean why they choose not to 'believe' in gods and goblins, or men who wear pointed hats and long cloaks, and make millions of $$$ by promoting fear in weaker minds...... Perhaps they 'do all those things they do', because they have minds capable of logic, are able to be objective, inquisitive, questioning, and choose to see the meat and taters rather than simply read the packet.

Because they do not believe in God and thus they do not have God living in their lives.....the peace that passes all understanding. The joy and the love that He gives us. They cannot comprehend that. I am answering from a christian stand point. Sorry if I am answering out of turn. It is a sad state to not believe in the creator of this great universe......HMMMMMMM........

because they have no basis for reason besides what they think of and what other atheists think of. sometimes even, they do it because a theist thought of it, and they think that sounds good too.
