Yes. She could be a super model someday. Do not make her feel uncomfortable about her height. My daughter is 6' tall and she modeled when she was in HS and college. Now she is the VP of a big corporation. Everyone is jealous of how tall and elegant she is. Support your daughter and tell her that she is beautiful.

It's probably normal FOR HER. How tall are you? How tall is your husband (assuming you're married, if not, her father)? How tall are other relatives in her family tree (grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc.). She should grow to a height about the same as her relatives.

Height tends to be genetic unless there's some irregularity like perhaps a pituitary or other unusual influence going on. If you're a family of pygmys and she towers above everyone at the family reunions then perhaps it's time you consulted a doctor about this.

Otherwise, don't sweat it. Nothing wrong with being tall. Maybe she's just growing early and is just about done. Or maybe she'll have a little more to go. In either case, she should be fine unless you or someone else gives her a complex about her height.

Depends on a lot of factors -- if others in your family are tall, then probably not an issue. It's probably not an issue even if no one else in the family is tall.

I am going to ask a series of questions about something I just recently learned about.

Is she skinny -- even though she eats a lot?
Is she double jointed anywhere?
How is her muscle tone?
If she puts her elbows behind her back do her elbows touch?
Does she have mitral valve prolapse (lots of people do.... just a question on a list.)
Does she have flat feet?
Have her stand, back to the wall, and put her arms out against the wall like she was making a cross. Mark where each of her middle fingers are. Mark how tall she is. Now measure how long fingertip to fingetip it is. Measure how tall she is. Which is greater? Arm length or height?

If Arm length is greater, and she can touch her elbows behind her, and she is double jointed... and/or any of the above criteria then there is a slight, and I do mean SLIGHT possibility that she has a connective tissue disorder called Marfan Syndrome and you should visit the link below to check out the other criteria.

BUT: Even if she has several of them, it doesn't mean she has it!!! Marfan is a very rare disorder, but it can present in a variety of ways (not just by being tall). However, if she does have many of the criteria it is just better to be evaluated by a doctor who is familiar with it.

I only share this because I have a son who may, (I still don't know) have this disorder, and he's only 6. But he is getting more characteristics, and I am getting him evaluted after his next well check up, which is in December, when I will have his doctor give me a referral to a specialist. He isn't exactly tall right now, but has many other characteristics, and recently has been getting more length to his legs.

Again, what I mentioned above is rare. I'm just passing on information that I've just recently learned about myself..

Feel free to email me if you have additional questions

I think your kid height is normal because my friend has daughter who is 11 also and she is fully growing she is 5'6. I think that she might slow down on growing because when i was around that age i was about 5'2 almost 5'3 and i was the tallest in 6th grade and i stopped growing and everyone got taller

Yea its normal I was 5'4 when i was 11 so shes not alone on that . Its just that she is having all here growing sprees now instead of them being spread out through out her teen years. I was 5'7 by the time I was 14 and i haven't growed a bit since.

In this day and age, yes, this is normal. She probably won't get any taller, just fill out and start to look more mature over time.
There are so many children that are developing faster And growing taller. My seven year old has to wear a training bra. No kidding. I blame the bovine hormones that is fed to cows, then humans ingest it and it works on us too! Seriously.

She's probably a few inches taller than the norm, but so what? Usually children grow according to what they inherit from their parents. Girls grow the most around her age, she could grow a couple more inches, or not. Just don't make her feel self-conscious about it or she'll have a problem her whole life.

Yes it's normal...my youngest is barely 15 and 6 foot tall already...all kids grow at different rates and stages of their lives....my oldest didn't grow for 4 yrs....and he hit puberty and wow growth spurt!! Girls can be either tall or shorter than their peers....if you are really concerned...take your daughter for a health check up...I wouldn't worry unless she is feeling bad or has pain in some way...Happy Parenting...=)

yes, very normal... she might just be hitting puberity at a young age. she probally wont grow anymore maybe an 1'' or so it all depends on how tall u are and or your spouse if both are short then it goes back to the ancestors.

No, if you and her dad are short people.

I believe a lot of models that start around 12 years old are around 5' 8".
