There is high grade fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, flushing, rash, itching. There is severe body ache, so it is also called breakbone fever. Platelets become low and there can be bleeding into the skin or mucous membranes. There may be shock and death. The disease progresses in the first week and there is recovery in the second week. After that, there may be general weakness due to profuse vomiting, inability to eat and weight loss in the first week. There are no permanent effects.

There are different dengue fevers. I believe 4 types. I got it once and I had high fevers of 104 for a few days and the worst headache I've ever had in my life. It was in the back of my head especially and it felt like I got hit with a bat. It was terrible. and just so you and others know, it's caused by a mosquito . I can't remember the name but "google" it and you can find out. It usually happens in the islands and South America in warm climates and were there is standing water. I got it in Puerto Rico after hurricane Georges. Many people got it then.

The acute phase of the illness with fever and myalgias lasts about one to two weeks. Convalescence is accompanied by a feeling of weakness (asthenia), and full recovery often takes several weeks In Dengue fever there is no "CURE" but love and time, you need to make sure your cousin is comfortable..Please do take to the doctor ... and try to reduce mosquito in home as much as you can..i know it is hard, can b anywhere.. :( You also need to remeber to take care of YOU as well, plz how you can help ur cousin if u not eating sleeping right ?
