Dogs can be okay in the cold if they have a thick coat (e.g. a husky or malamute). Feed them a little bit more so they can have more calories to burn to keep warm.

After the temperature gets below 32 degrees, I would bring any dog inside because their water supply will freeze.

Puppies need more time to build up a full coat. If your dog is under 1 year old, bring them inside.

What kind of dog is it and how cold does it get where you are?

Depends on the dog's size. If you have to leave it outside, be sure to put a bunch of good hay in it's house. I hope it has a house or some sort of shelter. The hay will radiate heat for your dog. Also put the house on the south side of your house or barn/shed if you have one and turn the door away from the north. good luck.

If your dog is an outside dog, then it will grow a winter coat and should be fine, however if the dog spends most of its time indoors you will need to supply it with a dog coat, as it would not have grown its full winter coat. Good luck.

It depends on what kind of dog and how cold.

depends on what you mean by cold. 50 degrees probably . I believe pets need to be inside. there are things you can do to help outdoor dogs stay warm. you can get heated dog houses. warm blankets. they also have heated waterbowls so the water does not freeze.

this question does require more info. Buy cedar chips at wal-mart or somewhere for $5 to put in the dog house.....if in doubt....bring the pup in. stand outside for 20 minutes with no jacket....that might give you an idea if your dog is going to be comfortable !!
