I got hit but another car and they have American Family Insurance. Once the clain is approved, will American Family write a check to me or the body shop?

Usually they pay you. On rare occasions they will pay the shop. As a claimant, the insurance company has no duty to make sure you get the vehicle repaired like they would with their own insured.

It depends on the insurance company, but you should be able to have the check given to you.

What happened when you got hit before, who got the check you or the insurance company?

The last time I was in an accident and it was the other person's fault, their insurance company cut the check to me.

i had a claim with allied insurance and thry wrote the check to both my auto body shop and me.
