the most obvious one i can think of is the "son on the cross" bit- which is clearly a reference to the age-old symbol of a circle with a cross on it, in which the circle represents the SUN and the cross represents the four seasons. if one divides each section into three equal sections, they are left with the 12 houses of the zodiac (or desciples).

the English language is derived from the German. In the Germanic, the word 'Sun' is spelled 'Sonne'. The two words can (and have been) used interchangeably.

Because the church rewrote the original bible so they could make it more favorable to their position.

Wow. You surely don't mean that because we should stay away of an occult practice of divination in the stars, closely connected to non-Christian beliefs (such as predestination), we cannot make use of astronomy, which is a fairly decent and non-occult science? Then how would you propose us to establish our calendars and clocks, if not by reference to the movement of the sun and the other heavenly bodies (apparent or not)?
You seem unaware of the fact that, besides English and German, there are other languages where no homonimy between son and sun is present, including Hebrew, the original language of the Old Testament, and Greek, the original language of the New Testament. As a matter of fact, even the English etymologies I have just dug up (see bellow) point rather to a coincidence that to a common origin of the words son and sun.
The symbol you are referring to is an ancient Celtic one. Celts were obviously very happy when they could retain their old symbol upon the consideration that Jesus Christ truly is the Sun of righteousness, as testified by the Scriptures (Maleachi 4:2; Wisdom of Solomon 5:6). This has only happened in areas inhabited by Celts, such as Ireland and a small area of Northern Romania. In Romania these symbols are not even used in a religious context, but to decorate the jambs of gates.
Finally, the division of the year in four seasons and twelve months and, consequently, the division of the sky vault in twelve sections have nothing astrological/occult about them, but are still in use in the most secular and up-to-date astronomical science. Also, there is nothing wrong with cosmologic symbols in themselves, such as the cross (which by the way means much more than the four seasons; also symbolizes the four regions--cardinal points--of the earth; and also symbolyzes the tree of life, which bears the life-giving fruits--Genesis 2:9, 3:22,24; Revelation 2:7, 22:2,14).
I hope this helps.

The answer is simple - if you are looking at something from the perspective of Astrology, you will see astrological symbolism in things - regardless of what the religious writings are. We may have the same symbols around us - but to each of us they mean different things based on our spiritual beliefs or personal experience or culture.
Why does the God of the Bible not like astrology? Because it's not part of the spiritual belief system laid out for the followers of that God's system. A Hindu would not follow certain Muslim traditions to achieve Nirvana (for example.) A fine arts student would not study biomedical engineering to obtain their arts degree. Dabbling in things belonging to other religions just confuses things and takes the focus away from the particular God you are supposed to be following (regardless of the religion.)
12 houses of the zodiac may have little to do with there being 12 disciples unless you want it to. And, 12 disciples or 12 zodiac signs may have little to do with their being 12 months in a calendar year or how we divide up the hours on a clock. It just may be that circular symbols just divide that way.

Obvious to someone who tries to mesh beliefs, maybe.
To Christians, "son on the cross" represents Jesus' sacrifice - nothing more...
Also, Astrology is the study of the cosmos, correct? There's nothing wrong with learning about the universe, but when one starts basing their decisions on star placement, or Zodiac signs, a problem develops: Christians are supposed to lean on God for their needs, choices, etc. Astrology negates the need for God's provision - without God's provison, we have nothing.
As an applicable "science," astrology offers low returns - if someone's decision doesn't produce acceptable results, the stars must not have been lined up right (or some such...).
As Christians, we have the assurance that if our desires are in agreement with God's plans, our results will likely be acceptable to us - high returns.
From a Christian, my question would be: Isn't it better to let the Creator of the stars & planets lead you?

because of hypocracy!!
a large part of the bible is predictions, but they are allowed to because they claim it is coming from god. But let someone living in the world now say anything they get is from god and they are evil satanists.
And definately not a woman--look at joan of arc.
So obviously any woman doing astrology or fortune telling is going to hell. Who cares what they think, you know what is best for you. No oneis going to hell.

First we need to realize that there are two 'gods'. We have a totally unconditionally loving creative intelligence/principle who is 'creator' of this experience. In conflict with this is the historical Anu, the 'god' who requires our obedience.

That's not what the bible is referring to. The constellations actually tell the story of Jesus Christ.
God hates astrology because man is trying to find his own way with out GOD and that leads to hell.
