Just recently i ask this gal friend out, I say this is just as friends. At what point do you ask for a date? Or am i just asking a question that i am needlessly wasting 5 points on?

You only need to let her know whether or not you consider it a date if you don't want her thinking it's something that it's not. Women are good at making assumptions and then acting as though the assumptions are facts, then it's your fault when the conclusions they've jumped to aren't true. As if. They just don't want to take the blame for their nutty behaviour.

Even if you tell her it's not a date beforehand she might have decided in her own mind that it is no matter what you might have to say about it, and nothing on God's green earth will make her believe otherwise. Then you're stuck, because no matter what you do from that point on to try to correct her it will be your fault, and she'll be sure to let all of her friends know her version of the story, which from here on out will be titled "The Truth" when she tells it.

Get yourself a steel cup, you're about to loose them.

If the two fo you are going out, and one of you is paying the freight, then guess what?
You are on a date.
If you want to make it more than just friends, then that is another question entirely.
