I run about 5 times a week and I also do an arm workout about 3 times a week. I was hoping maybe I could get both done at the same time by running with those hand weight things soccer moms power-walk with. Would that give me a good arm workout? What weight should I get? (I usually lift with 5lb weights and my arms are toned but not super-strong)

Stick to running without the weights?? Running is fine by itself. Instead do your usual run 5 times a week and then as soon as you get done do as many pushups as you can. You might only start out with a few, but the more you do the more you will get stronger. Before long you won't need any weights and your arms will look great.

I depends on what you want. If you want to run you are better off staying pretty light. You're better off doing a arm workout afterwards at the house. 5lbs. will give you some toning, if you want some definition you'll have to go heavier from 8lbs. to 10 lbs. to push yourself.

That is not a good idea. You will just end up hurting your self. You could go the wieghts by them selves as a warm up, but don't do them while running. You will not have proper form or coordination, and will like trip or hurt your elbow. I think I have made my point. DON'T

Weights only burn a few extra calories, but it will tone. I would leave it at 5 lbs. Please remember that muscle tome is gentic. But stick with the 5 pounders you'll see results

it would work you out some ,but i don't encourage running with any weight since it throws you off balance and typically injures your back or knees. i recomend stepping up your arm work out.
