I grew up Christian but I am thinking I should look into more beliefs. What are some religions and practices that I should give serious thought to?

Hard to say without knowing anything about your beliefs except that you're obviously intelligent enough to question them, so here goes:
Pantheism(more of a philosophy, but it's worth looking into. Deism. Shinto. Buddhism. Baha'i. Pagansim. Taoism. Also the writings of several famous philosophers. Or you could write your own philosophy if nothing seems right for you. Its what I did. I'm pantheistic with a bit of a shinto twist and elements of deism with some paganism thrown in.

Ya know, There is this thing called popular belief. However, its the way of life ... the individual that counts. Don't fall prey to anothers way. Take ya self to the local library and study the old fashion way. Looking up religion on line will give you false ideas on most. Fallow your heart, trust yourself, and be true is all you can truly do for yourself. Fallowing any religion when not sure of your own will only make you confused. Just study if that's what you seek. However I recommend The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield! Insight is more of what you crave I think! Try it, there is a site you can get the information. Just hi light the name of the book and the Aurthur and search. You ll find ya way! Good Luck!

I have taken up . . . knitting!

It is a great religion. You can practice it alone or in groups, there are only two stitches to learn. There are several ways to do it, too. Practitioners can be found in almost every city, and you can gain serenity, love, understanding and nice sweaters from it.

I got a miracle--it cured the arthritis in my right hand. I opened a knitting shrine, a local yarn shop, and now I teach knitting almost every day and knit all the time.

Religion doesn't have to include gods, tenets, churches or ministers. Knitting serves as a great religion and I get much more from it than the Catholicism that I left.

Why not take a look at all of your options? I took a comparative religion course a couple years ago that covered five major religions. I learned a lot and discovered that they really aren't that different at the core. It all comes down to being a good person.

You should give serious thought to your relationship to Jesus. He is the only thing that will bring you contentment. Look up, this life as we know it will soon be over. There is noooo Religion that brings peace. Only Jesus. He is the answer. Why have you not found Him if you are a christian. Once you really come to know Him you never need or want to search any farther. You need to invite His Holy Spirit into you to fill you and give you peace and Joy. I will pray for you. God Bless and keep you

None, religion is for those that want to follow a human. Belief is better off left at 'spiritual' with your own set of beliefs that you have decided are right, or no beliefs at all.

Edit: You could always take this quiz...based on your answers it gives you percentages of different religions/beliefs and what you most closely match. http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html

at the moment i am jewish but i am having a faith exploration journey too, as one might put it. one of the most accepting faiths to look into, i have found, seems to be the unitarian universalist faith..basically a religion where as long as you're a decent person you can think whatever you want and find out about it yourself. general don't-be-a-jerk type values are the ones they tend to go for, and you don't have to believe in jesus (a plus for me) but you can (a plus for christians) and you don't have to believe in god, heaven, hell or anything...you don't HAVE to do anything. it seems like a really friendly place to start if nothing else. ^-^

hope this helps! i haven't switched anything yet and i'm not gonna try and convert you to judaism because that's not how i am. i just thought i'd share a little of what i found out...

stay a concepts a concepts faraway from prepared faith of any type. I grew up in a traditonal Christian church. i replaced into taught, and believed, that God replaced into advise and offended, and replaced into sending maximum folk to an ever burning hell. At about the age of 35, i began a personal wonderful journey to ensure who God truly is and who i really am. What i got here across is something completely diverse from the dogma of prepared faith. truly, God loves you and there is no longer a darn element you would possibly want to do about it. I somewhat have compiled some scriptures from the Bible into a piece of writing I wrote called LETTER FROM A FATHER. once you've an activity in understanding in basic terms who(or what) God is, you'll initiate in search of solutions, and slowly this is going to break of day upon you that God is extra outstanding than you ever idea.
