It's nothing more than a nuisance that can put you in a panic and completely bring your good mood down. Panic attacks are probably the most scariest things I've ever felt in my life, and I'm glad I've learned to successfully get myself over them.

Personally, I think there are different things that bring on anxiety.

A traumatic situation, stress, etc. Often, you can talk yourself out of feelings that lead you into an anxiety attack. Rational thoughts should be substituted for irrational thoughts. For example; you are taking a plane on vacation. You have a fear of flying because you worry the plane will crash. What you need to realize is that flying is safer than driving, that the pilots have flown thousands of hours in the air, that it can be enjoyable seeing earth from up there. Occupy your mind with music, a good book, good conversation, etc.

Two things I have found that works wonders with my anxiety and occational panic attacks are;
1.When I get that feeling of dread & fear is to totally let go, let go of my body, my mind, everything. I totally accept the mental, physical, and emotional situation that I am in, I have even gotten to the point where I have accepted that feeling of dying that a person can get when in a severe panic attack and have allowed my self, in essense, to "die". I compare this method to the process of falling asleep. When you try to fall asleep it's impossible, only when you totally let go will you drift off.
With this method I feel it is very important to that you have some kind of belief system, spirituallity, and the knowledge of something greater than yourself.
2. The second method that also works for me is intense prolonged exersise. When I feel something coming on and the situation allows it I'll leave and start running as fast as I can until I can hardley go on. I'll stop for a minute to catch my breath and monitor my anxiety level then force my self to run again. I keep repeating this process until I feel I am totally calm and centered. I don't put an expectation of time to this method, some times all I need is twenty minutes, sometimes I am sure I have run a marathon.

In closing I'll leave an excellent qoute I found tthat really helpedme.

anxiety is not fun i have it and deal with it every day ... like i have pains so automatically think something bad is wrong and it causes me to have a panic attack ..when u constantly think have raceing thoughts while your doing housework or something basically your brain is playing tricks on you making you feel like death is comeing or make you feel like something bad is going to happen to someone like for example if they are going to the fair and rideing rides you assume something is going to go wrong with a ride and you will have raceing thoughts that will eventually cause a panic attack then youll feel relief when they return BUT then raceing thoughts return and you start to worry about something else ..to me its like if its not one its the other like i find things in life to worry about or a pain i am haveing i think its gonna kill me

I started getting them occasionally as an adult. I have learned to control them by "talking" myself out of them when I know I'll be in a situation that might bring one on.
