When I found out I was pregnant, I was SOOO excited to tell my parents and my in-laws. They will ALL be first time grandparents... So, I went to the dollar store, got two really cute baby picture frames and printed out this poem and put it in the frame, wrapped it up and gave it to them. They LOVED it! To My Grandparents: I do not have a face to see, to put inside this frame. I do not have soft cheeks to kiss; I don't yet have a name. You can't hold my tiny hands, nor whisper in my ear. It's still too soon to sing a song, or cuddle me so near. But all will change coming soon, when they say I'm due. I'm your new grandson or granddaughter; I can't wait till I meet you. All I ask between now and then is your patience while I grow. I promise I'll be worth the wait, because of all the love we'll know. So as you're waiting patiently, please pray lots of prayers for me. I cannot wait to be a part of this wonderful family!

When I was pregnant for my 2nd child I wanted more of a creative way of telling my husband than "hey honey look at this" - so I packed his lunch and sent him off to work with a lunchbox full of baby food jars. He was apparently hungry before lunch time, because I got a call about 10:30 from a very happy hubby.

I have reciently moved 1000 miles away from all my family. I found out I was pregnant about 1 1/2 months later. I called my mom and told her she may want to plan her next vacation around the begining of April. She cought on really quick. She was at work and she went nuts (in a good way though) She started yelling and crying on the phone. My husband and I have been trying for 5 years. I called my dad and told him well it seems like our kids are all going to be 5 years apart. He didn't quite get it. My daughter is 9, my sister is 4, and I am expecting in April. When he did get it he was just laughing and said that's cool sh*t. lol

Idea 1)They sell these pregnancy countdown keychains in ebay and other stores-for a few bucks each. Set the countdown clock to your due date. Wrap them up and give them out as little gifts to the grandparents to be. When they open it up they will figure it out and they will be sure to use the keychain to keep track of when the baby is coming!

Idea 2) Take your first ultrasound, make color copies, put them in picture frames, wrap and give them out. They will look black and white, but they will get the gist!

Just some ideas-congrats-have fun with it!!

I told my husband I notice he was getting a rash and that I bought him some cream for it. Of course he looked at me retarded for a minute when I pulled diaper rash cream out of the shopping bag but he cought on and we had a good laugh.

I didn't give my parents a stick i peed on (gross!) Instead I asked my mom if I looked ok. When she asked why I simply said "I don't know. My skin is glowing and I feel funny." Took her a minute too but she was happy and we laughed about it.

If any of them have a hobby that could result in baby items--like knitting, woodworking--buy a book of baby patterns and mark your favorite project. Put a note beside it that you will need it by your due date. I did this with my mom and a book of quilt projects for babies. She loved it!

Our daughter was due on thanksgiving day...so we simply asked people what their plans were because we wanted them to be able to come and visit the baby at the hospital on his/her birthday. She was actually born a week before.

Well if this is your first child, you could get your parents a gift that says something about "Grandparents" they'll think "we're not.....oh...your having a baby!" Yipppee!
