Phew, tough one there. I lived with an addict too and I will tell you like most will tell you, YOU cannot do anything to get her clean and keep her clean. SHE is the only one who controls her future. If she wants a future, she needs to get clean and stay clean. You could support her, but can't do it for her. That's the toughest part for you. I know. I watched my loved one slowly kill himself. In patient detox and rehab is the only way to go. Prayers, support her, but do not think for one minute you could stop her from doing drugs, because believe me, if you could stop her, you would have done it already. Love her and just try to find and in patient program. Most states have free ones if you cannot afford one. God Bless and good luck. I know it's a tough road. I hope she takes the right path. Have faith.

I appreciate that you want to help her. If she has had treatment like at Freedom Village and Teen Challenge, then she would have setup some longer term patterns to help herself. The business of going until you are no longer under the influence (weeks) is not usually enough to make a life change. You need months of counselling and other therapy to make a confirmed life change.

It is hard. I lost my twin sister about 4 years ago. We tried so hard to get her to quit but she always got back on pain pills. She thougth it would not hurt her but it did kill her. Her liver couldnt take it anymore so without any warning she went into liver failure. We did a short stint in in-patient rehag, I would try to get her into a 60-90 in-house program but when it is all said and done she has got to want to change. This way you will at least know you tried everything.

what drugs does she take? Is it ordinary drugs to cure an illness or drugs , such as marijuana, shabu?
She needs professional help! If it is medications for treating illness, then you should follow up with the doctors. However, if it is drug dependence, then a psychiatrist should also be consulted aside from putting her in a rehabilitation program.

To quote Yoda, "there is no try. Do, or do not."
When she hits absolute bottom, she'll either make a real commitment to kick the dope, or she'll die. I am not trying to be harsh.
