Smoking a normal cigarette might reduce the depression for the time of smoking (approx 6 minutes), because you might be concentrating on the cigarette instead of the depression.
If you want to smoke something to get rid of depression, then marijuana is the answer.

Initially, the first few cigarettes are a little bit relaxinjg, may give you a sense of a "break". Thing is, it does not end up being worth it in the end, when you throw in the fact that you'll probably be smoking them for years to come. MOST people that smoke wish they had not started. It wouldn't bother you for a while, but in the long run you might regret starting. However, simply smoking a cigarette in anyone's life isn't just going to "get rid" of depression. Maybe the questions you should ask, should be about what is bothering you. There's tons of good people here that are willing to help with good advise.

It may feel that way from an addiction to the nicotine, but in actuality, it only puts you at a risk of your health. Nothing good comes from smoking except relieving yourself of wanting a cigarette when you smoke one, and you keep wanting them and it becomes a regular bill, which turns out to be not good at all.

No. It will, however, give you cancer of the lungs, throat and damage other organs too. Try natural suppliments; make sure you are getting enough Vit. D, eating healthy, stay away from sugar, it can act as a depressant just like alcohol.

No, I've been depressed for most of my life and I'm a smoker.
If anything it causes depression because of what it costs to buy a packet these days.

No, but if your a smoker it can make you feel better. I am not saying to start smoking at all. Its just a thing smokers know. Better to have a long walk or meditate instead.

No, not at all. In fact it could make it worse. It's an addiction and you need prescribed medication to get rid of full blown depression.
