It's probably arthritis and you can use many things for the discomfort. If you can go to the Chiropractor. Are you under the care of a Dr? The discs may be bulging, herniated or many things and they will X-ray to see what is causing the pain. Then you will probably be put on an anti inflammatory. I have the problem in my neck. Had surgery still in severe to moderate pain 24-7. so, I get Cortisone shots every 4 -6 months. I try to put it off as long as I can and I take a lot of Advil and I am also on elavil because it helps with the pain and my sleep. so, ther are options it's just what you are able to afford or can tolerate. Stretching and rotating your hip joint when you lie doan at night and rub the buttock where the ball and joint is will get blood into the area and help. Do this while lying on your side. Use a heat pad and ice. The ice helps the pain and the heat helps to relax your muscles. I was also told by Physical therapist to take my thumb and push on the siatic nerve from my waist down my buttocks to the back of the thigh. This gets blood flowing and does something to the nerve. I've been through it all. Good luck.

I had the same problem with my lower back popping only sometimes and not being able to stand a long time. I had got x-rays done a few months to a year ago and I found out that I had mild scolosis in the mid to lower part of my back. At which, my new doctor had said I will be more prone to injuries to the back. Also, I am still have major back pain. consult your doctor and your doctor will lively seen you to the hospital to get an x-ray done.

Assuming the pop is painless, you are most likely experiencing repetitive strain and thus creating micro trauma followed by inflammation. The inflammation results in increased waste product metabolism one of which is carbon dioxide gas. If this is within a joint(s), it will pressurize the joint(s) making it stiffen (reduced range of motion). By stretching the joint(s) you can stretch the capsule around the joint shifting the fluid air mix and a light pop occurs...stronger stretches will allow the gas the to escape the joint, thus depressurizing the joint and increasing the range of motion. If range of motion is not increasing after the pop then you may be grinding the joint down by your actions. Go get an x-ray to demonstrate condition of joint. Either way you need to be doing stabilization exercises. I recommend you see a well researched chiropractor further certified in post graduate rehabilitaion or orthopaedics.

You could have a herniated disc. See a chiropractor. It takes longer to heal than an orthopaedic surgeon, but it will be non evasive. If it's not a herniated disc, he can help to diagnose what the problem is.
