a) I'd organise the shelves.
b) re-place the chairs and desks for quieter reading and more concentration.
c) put up many signs to guide/ organise students: things like ¬ Talking comes by nature but silence comes by wisdom¬... 'please be quiet'... 'children's section here =>' ,....and so on
d) I'd make a quick survey on which books students & the teachers each alone would like to read or have in the library and request them be bought.
e) I'd check if the process of borrowing books is easy enough for students.
f) I'd put up flyers to get lazy students to read: put popular magazines in the library and books with exceiting titles right next to them..

Major changes.. With the demands for information literacy and technological competence, as well as the changes in teaching and learning theory and practice, there should be a new role for the school library that must emerge. No longer simply a place to store resources, the school library MUST be a home to a dynamic instructional program that is integrated into the school's curriculum and rooted in collaboration among classroom teachers and the teacher-librarian. A further collaboration between the teacher-librarian and the school administrator should provide leadership in the school to implement a plan for the development of a school library program.. In this, there should be student participation

To actually build a library. Their libray is a large h all way. I still wonder how to get the school the library. They just knocked down a great area for one. Hopefully county council will grant funding to build more to the small school and they will use it for a library so that the kids can get more books into. :) I would also love to see the computer lab in the school with acess to the audio media rooms.

Ditch the computers and any audio-visual "aids" unless it is STRICTLY used by the hearing and visually disabled on a case-by-case basis, and increase exponentially the numbers of books, including multiple editions of the same book, and reference materials, and restrict the use of copying/Xerox machines dramatically. God Bless you.
