I have a 7 year old that is teaching her 11 week old pup to dig how can I stop them from digging and bringing the mud into the house

dog dig because there hot or cold.they dig for the cool ground under the top.they also dig to keep in there body heat.they also dig for water if they cant dig and find water when it rains there will be water in the hole. and they will dig if there nails are to long.

Bored!....get them outside toys to play with, and teach them to stop at the door when they enter the home, put a rug there, and make them stop and sit on the rug,

then wipe their feet, and have a "milk bone dog treat" for them when they sit and stay on the rug,
in no time at all, dogs will stop and listen.

I had a shorthair pointer, and she had 10 pups and all had to listen otherwise "no treats"!...and they listened and then went directly to their pen nicely....fastest 10 weeks of my life!

If you put out moth balls around your yard where your dog is say along the fence line this should help
