how do you get a smart but territorial dog to not be aggressive towards other dogs?

My dog is aggressive towards ither dogs, but not people. Help!

Each encounter with another dog should be a positive one for your dog. Tail wagging and sniffing are good signs. Hackles up is not.
You may want to consider obedience training for your dog. This will allow your dog the opportunity to be around other dogs in a controlled setting. You will also learn more to promote good socialization skills and recognize your dog's behavior around other dogs, good or bad.

You might need to contact a dog trainer. My friend's little dog loves me but, hates my dog and all other dogs. My dog loves all other dogs, children but, is a little apprehensive towards adult strangers. She is not aggressive toward any person or animal though. She is a Maltese. I guess it might depend on the breed. My neighbor has a Doberman which is not agressive toward people or animals. So, check with a professional trainer.

Just like if he was like this w/ people, get him used 2 it. Have a friend w/ a dog let u barrow the dog and make sure its not territorial or mean 2 other dogs and easyish 2 take care of. Just train ur dog from there.

I have had many dogs that were terrotorial.
In the street, park or someone else's yard they were fine.
But if someone came into HIS yard, watch out.
If that's what you mean, it's pretty normal.
If he is being aggressive anytime another dog approaches him anywhere, you need to correct him firmly and immediately, EVERY time.
