Actually there were more than 6 women and if you read your Bible you would know that. There were 12 male Apostles because the society at that time would not have listened to a woman, in fact one of the Apostels had a hard time accepting woman as the ones Jesus broke bread with, and appeared to first. Do not confuse Jesus with the view some christians with hidden agendas tell you. You want to know the truth read it, I dare you. Not a pice here and anotherthere just read the NT from Mat to Rev. then you will want to read selected OT books.

In Hebrew (Jewish) custom women took care of the home. But, the men could go to school and the best of them could become disciples of a rabbi and then become rabbi's themselves. Some could even become Pharisees. So... in other words, only the best of the best could become disciples, and they could only be men. For the fishermen and tax collecters (the men who didn't make it big as a disciple originally) were called by Jesus to be His disciples (which for them would have been insane, but extremely honoring.) That's why.

The church is made up of families. The model of the family is with the man at the head. Originally, Adam and Eve were created equal. After Eve sinned, God chose to have Adam be the head of the house with Eve as an equal but serving in a subordinate role. This did not lesson her value in any way, but it did stop a lot of conflicts because there was a recognized leader in the home. Some men abused this leadership role and subjected the wives to a subserviant role contrary to scripture. The man is supposed to serve the woman and give himself for her as Christ gave himself for the church. The backlash of this abuse was the woman's rights movement. Although some of the results of woman's lib were positive, there were negatives also, including increased divorce rates, rise in homosexuality, increase in juvenile diliquency etc.
When Christ formed the church, He modeled it after the family with men as the leaders. Of course Christ is the head of the church. That does not lessen in any way a woman's importance to the church or her ability to serve God in the church.

Some of the appochrypha scriptures refer to Mary of Magdala as the first disciple. There is even a book of scripture that is authored by her. Some theologens even feel that Jesus left his church to her but during the great debate when they were deciding what books would be in the bible an which ones wouldn't hers was one of the books that was booted. The gospel of
Judas was also booted.

To say what people have been saying for centuries -
"It's a man's world" !
And in the bible women really didn't have much to do with preaching. There may be stories of woman like Ruth. But that is like a token, like blacks in the 60's.
Even today they aren't suppose too.But women are coming out to preach. Is it right or is it wrong ? As long as they go by the bible.

You forget that today's society is femenist, while back in 20 A.D. women received very little, if any, mention. The only reason Mary is mentioned is because she gave BIRTH to Jesus.

Men were more credible. Jesus wanted the sheeple to actually listen to his Followers. Women weren't very knowledgeable, or credible back then so he couldn't tell the women his lies and deciept and expect them to preach it to the people with them accepting it, Only Men.
