Don't just get another one to replace your loss, otherwise you will always compare it to your old dog and that wouldn't be fair on the new one. wait until you find one that you fall in love with at a rescue home or somewhere like that. Just don't expect any dog you do get to be the same as the one you have just lost because all dog have their own personality's and that's why we love them so much.
Sorry about Chuline.

I am so sorry for your loss but maybe you might be best giving yourself time to get over Chuline first, you have had her for a long time and its hard to just get over a dog you have loved so much, but you know maybe your dad didn't want to prolong the agony of your beloved dog by bringing her home and having to go through all those emotions again, he might just have wanted to protect you and your brother from the upset because he loves you both so much, remember all the love and happiness you had with your dog and not the hurt and regrets you might feel right now, I think you will know when your ready to get another dog and when that day comes I hope its a lovely as the one you have just lost, good luck.

You poor thing, I'm so sorry to hear that :o(
You will know when the time is right to get another pup and whilst sadly you will never get your Chuline back I'm sure there is a pup out there that will love you unconditionally and put that little spark back in your life that only a dog can give you. You don't need to forget Chuline, Just remember the nice times you had with her.
You've abviously got lots of love to give a dog so don't waste it, get yourself a new friend, so many dogs need a nice person like you to love them :o)

You'll never forget your dog, ever. You won't get one that is exactly the same either. Give it a bit of time before you get another dog, so that you have time to grieve the loss. If your dog had lost her quality of life and was in pain your father did the right thing, so don't resent what he did. It was the kindest thing. Rest assured the vet wouldn't have put the her down if there had been a chance of recovery.

I am so sorry that you have lost your dog.
You don't say how old you are, but regardless of that your dad should have told you what was going to happen so that you could say goodbye to your much loved pet, I can understand that he didn't want to upset you.....but you are upset!!
I would wait a little while before getting another dog, give yourself time to grieve a little bit, it may take a week or it may take longer everyone is different, you will know when the time is right.
Take care. x

Honestly, only you can answer that question.
If it were me, I would, because I am so used to dog companionship. It wouldn't mean that I love(d) the old dog any less, though. You can still love a new dog, while you are mourning the loss of your old one.
That was a very cruel thing your dad did. :( Not the fact that the dog was put down, but that he did it before you could say your goodbyes. How horrible.

Sorry your dad is a mature adult! Sometimes animals need to be put to sleep, its a sad fact that children have a hard time coping with and I'm really not trying to be "insensitive" but your dad doesnt have to ask your permission.. your obviously still young and couldnt have made an unselfish decision about the dogs well-being so wait a couple years and then consider a new pet!

Firstly I am sorry that you lost your dog.
I would wait a few weeks before getting another one, remember her and the fun times that you had.
Just dont expect the new puppy to be the same as your old dog, some people do and they become very disapointed.
Good luck!

Give yourself some time to grieve. Start looking for another dog in a shelter or with a rescue group. This would be the perfect way to honor your precious dog Chuline- by saving another dogs life and giving it a good home.
I am sorry for your loss.

Re home a un wanted dog from a local shelter.. Then you will fill that empty space for the Dog and yourself!! I rescued a Jack Russell after my Alsatian Victor passed away and although they are totally different in personality I love them both the same!!!
