its not really horrific. its a natural thing...just not for humans.

There is a real reason why this is almost a universal taboo. The Fore tribes-women of New Guinea developed a form of cannibalism because the men were eating all the protein from the hunts. The women began to eat their dead, first out of desperation, and later developed a spiritual reason for it. When they and their children, whom they shared the corpses with, began to develop a disability they called "Kuru" they blamed it on curses and witchcraft. It was really Kruetzfeldt-Jakob disease (Mad cow) and it took several American and British scientists is unravel this mystery.

I don't know about horror, in some tribes it is considered warrior like to eat people

Christians practice symbolic cannibalism during their Communion ceremony when they eat and drink the body and blood of their dead god, represented by the wafer and wine. Catholics believed the wafer & wine are concecrated and become the actual body and blood of their dead god, making them actual cannibales. All of it is rather silly because there are no such things as god/gods/god-Human hybrids, ghosts, goblins, witches or spirits.

Dead flesh is merely meat. It is repugnant to us as humans, but it would keep you alive under the right/wrong conditions. It's the thought of eating a "person" that is disgusting, but the "person" is gone once they are dead.

in this cevilization it is looked down upon but in some tribes it is a sign of strength and a warrior and it is all to do with evil spirits in men

As predators, I think the only reason why human beings don't eat each other more often is that we don't want anybody else to eat us.

well, if your on an island, with two other people, one of which two of you hate, and there is no food at all on this island, what are you gonna do?
