Yes, that is exactly what it means! Have you ever been in combat? Do you know what that is like?

If the theists are in the foxholes, then why would the theists be doing all the killing, i didn't follow your logic? It would seem that if there's NO atheists in the foxholes, then they're someplace else....either doing the killing or at home where it's safe.

This is a fiction. There are indeed real atheists in foxhholes. It's been a while since nice born again boys shot against nice born again boys, but this has happened in the past. Currently, the main problem are the murderous Muslims.

It is hard for me to believe that an Athest in the military does not pray to someone when in trouble. They may not believe in God but they believe in something or someone.
Everyone is brought to this life to learn something. An Atheist is brought here to learn of God. And this lesson may take place during a war. Why do you think most criminals get saved and believe in God when in prison? They start to question life and the meaning of life? Why are we all here anyway to eat nachos and beans or is there a higher purpose?
Each person has a different reason why they came back to earth (their souls that is). For one person it may be the strength it takes to save another soldeirs life during war, for another it may be to learn about sacrifice when their wife leaves them because they were fighting a war and gone for a year, and another it may mean to learn patience in getting home to the US.
God knows that it is OK to kill in some situations. Look in the bible and you will see many times man had to kill. The soldier that gets killed or the civilian it was his time to die, exit this earthly plane and return to the other side. He has already learned his lesson in which he came for.
Killing is a hateful act. No one like to kill but some must kill for their lives, their compadres, their country. God is forgiving.
