I mean isnt there evidence for both of them in the Bible? Maybe they are both correct though it seems impossible to us.

Whatever you post here somebody somewhere would think it is wrong.

I too will go with Calvinism as being the correct interpretation of the scriptures. The two camps couldn't be further apart from each other. In the words of J.I. Packer, Arminianism is a great wide bridge (Christ died for everyone) that goes halfway across (we must choose). Calvinism is a narrow bridge (Christ died for His own) that goes all the way across.

Welcome to Yahoo! Answers!

If you believe that the Bible does not contradict itself, then one view is right and the other view is wrong.

I believe that the Scripture supports the Calvinistic view (especially the doctrines of total spiritual inability, unconditional election, definite atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints) more than the Arminian view.

Concerning the doctrine of the atonement of Christ, Arminians erroneously (I believe) teach that Jesus' death on the cross paid the penalty of sin for every person who has ever lived, for every person living now, and for every person who will be born in the future. If this is the case, then every person will be saved...a view which even no Arminian holds! Double jeopardy is not a card that God plays; he is not going to punish Jesus for the sins of all people and then punish unbelievers for the very same sins all over again. Jesus died to pay for the sins of the elect only...those people who trust in the Lord's sacrifice to be the atonement for their sins! Unbelievers will die in their sins and will be cast into the lake of fire.

There are arguments on both sides and, while I will be willing to concede that both have a measure of truth, I beleive that Calvinism is closer to the truth than Arminianism.
