I agree with the person that said DO NOT wear a tampon to bed!!
You're not supposed to wear a tampon for more than 6 hours or you run the risk of getting toxic shock syndrome which is a very serious condition that can cause death. She's right you should go to the doctor and hopefully they will prescribe the birth control pill for you which should make your period lighter and more regular. I use the extra long overnight pads with wings and they are pretty good, but then again mine's not as heavy as yours. Good luck : )

Try taking a bath before you go to sleep that helps me. Make sure you wear some granny panties to bed with the not only the thick bads but the longer one's. Your flow should slow down after third day. It just depends on the person mine only lasts 3-4 days and isn't heavy really at all. But some people are really heavy for 7 days straight. Also don't wear a pad to bed unless you plan on chaning it at least two times during the night! First that is just gross and second can cause infections.

Sometimes you can double but have you tried a tampon and a pad? That seems to help a great deal when mine is really heavy, even during the day. When you do add an extra one overlap the top and keep it connected at the bottom. Always drink plenty of liquids which seems to help eliminate the heavy part of the period faster.

There are special disposable panties you can wear with your pads. Works like a charm. Also, check with your gyno, you could have fibroids of you are overly heavy flow.

Try using a pad with wide wings. That way if you lay on your side the wings cover your panties and absorb the excess.

oh my please please do not wear a tampon overnight that is a great way to end up with Toxic shock syndrom. with that said if you are having to change it that much head to the doctor sounds like you need tobe checked for heavy menstration. Nothing to get nervous and fear over but you should get checked because it can cause low iron, which makes you feel light headed dizzy tired run down, heavy headachs thirsty . they may perscribe birth control pills to help control it.

I stick two or three super tampons in there.

NO leaks, NO TSS.

We are not talking DAYS here, we are talking OVERNIGHT.

In my opinion, pads are NASTY.

Use tampons.

Some use adult diaper. But I suggest you to visit specialist, they will examine if still normal or not.
