He fell to the ground at His sight of Jesus in His Glory and was like he was dead. Jesus had to comfort him and tell him he did not have to fear.

Yes! He even recorded that he cried and that on two occasions he fell to his knees when he saw angels. It must have been an awesome experience and in some ways confusing because he didn't understand what he was being shown. Both Daniel and Isaiah record how they were shown visions of the future and that they were fearful of what they saw and what it all meant,so it's easy to assume that John too had a bit of knee-knocking.

I do not believe so. From reading the Revelation, and considering the position of David Chilton in his book "Days of Vengeance", the book of the Bible was written as a worship manual as well as a prophesy of the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD. You will note that in the Revelation that the horrors inflicted were done to nonbelievers only. The believers had taken flight to the safety of the hills. Also, since John was with the angels and under the guidance of God, I believe he felt very secure.

No need to be afraid-
Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all of your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

likely not the dream was a vision from god. the book of revelation is symbolic not literal so i think he was cool and eased by the holy spirit if he did have fear at some point the spirit or an angel would have put him at ease.

John was afraid....but Christ strengthened Him, just like He will surely strengthen us when that day comes.
As it is written of John seeing Jesus in Rev...17When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last..."
This account reminds me of the one of Daniel as well when he saw the vision of the last days....and was given strength and comfort...

Yeah I think John was afraid. When Jesus approached him John fell flat on his face as if he was dead I also think that John was thinking 'why me?'
Rev 1:10-17
(10) I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
(11) Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
(12) And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
(13) And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
(14) His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
(15) And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
(16) And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
(17) And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
I hope this answers your question.
God Bless.

Which fear? Respect or scared? I think John had a lot of both. Can you imagine seeing all those things and trying to describe them? WOW!

Possibly, but then John did know what he was talking about? The problem was making sure his Roman guard didn't. He succeeded rather nicely. The Church was certainly encouraged by the letter. Which was the point. ; )

Funny you say that. Since i've discovered the workings of science, I have'nt feared anything that can't be proven. The thought of ghosts, goblins, GOD, Heaven, Hell, etc etc. used to scare the Be-Jesus out of me, now that I know all that is Mythology, I walk through the valley of the shadow of darkness, and fear no evil, because I'm the badest mothersucka in the valley.
