I have alot of nightmares and barely any dreams atleast of what I can remember. I have dreams of the dead walking and coming after me. I had them before the movie dawn of the dead. I was curious if anyone else has these nightmares and maybe why they do occur. I feel like crap when I wake up after having them. Also if anyone knows alot about troubles with sleep or has had a weird experience please e-mail me I have another question, but it really isn't one that I want on here.

Nightmares occur mostly because some problem disturbs you unconsciously but seriously. Some nightmares carry obvious symbols that may indicate where your problems are, but often it is not that easy. Sometimes they can indicate really serious problems like depressions, sometimes just an inadequacy of getting along with yourself. There are a number of possibilities. Some nightmares can be caused by certain drugs or medications, or by rapid withdrawal from them, or by physical conditions such as illness and fever. The nightmares of early childhood likely reflect the struggle to learn to deal with normal childhood fears and problems. Many people experience nightmares after they have suffered a traumatic event, such as surgery, the loss of a loved one, an assault or a severe accident. The nightmares of combat veterans fall into this category. The content of these nightmares is typically directly related to the traumatic event and the nightmares often occur over and over. Other people experience nightmares when they are undergoing stress in their waking lives, such as difficulty or change on the job or with a loved one, moving, pregnancy, financial concerns, etc. Finally, some people experience frequent nightmares that seem unrelated to their waking lives. These people tend to be more creative, sensitive, trusting and emotional than average. Frankly, though without having more personal and family information about you, I can only toss out ideas. Heck it may be that you just need to stop eating or drinking caffein drinks four hours before you lie down, and don't watch disturbing movies. I was in Vietnam and I can not watch the slasher movies because they remind me of what happened. Hollywood can make things look completely real today. Good luck anyway!

I constantly have nightmares and I hate it. Last night I prayed hard not to have any and I actually had an ok dream. I seriously dream every single time I go to sleep, and 95% of the time I can remember my dreams. I feel as if not many people understand this as their dreams are non sensical but not necessarily disturbing. Also, I feel as though people judge you for having nightmares, and if you have a disturbing nightmare it's like there something wrong with YOU. I also have reoccurring dreams, I can remember many of them. One for example: my whole house being on fire, but outside of my house too, ike the street filled with fire. It is so real and scary!! My dreams are so vivid. I think that only a small percentage of people constantly have dreams like this, or maybe people just don't want to talk about it... I would like to find out hwat causes some to dream more than others. Sometimes I feel like a really bad movie is playing in my head!

There could be any number of reasons you have this dream, but you can learn to change it around. Since the dream is coming out of your imagination, you need to think of something that you believe would get rid of them. I don't know what that would be for you (a flame-thrower? a crucifix?).

While you're awake, practice what you would do if the dream recurred. Eventually, you'll be able to change the course of your dream.

I think your dreams or subconscious is definetely trying to tell you something. One question to ponder is when did these dreams began and what do YOU think they mean? You know your life, thoughts, and mind better than anyone else

On the other hand you may never find peace in your dreams until you are able to actually control your actions in your dreams which is possible:

I dunno, maybe there is a part of you that you've neglected or let 'die' that is trying to come back or should.

Edit: Just read your 'about me'... "...but right now he is gone at marine boot camp..." Well that including caring for a two year old alone (and lets face it, 2 years olds can be a lot to handle) there is a good reason for some of your stress! I agree with the second poster...try to get some good comforting positive thoughts in your head before you sleep.

You can email me if U want. My therapist helps me understand most of my dreams. Certain things represent others. Sounds like you're under a lot of stress. Maybe a psychoanalyst would be of help. We ALL need help sometimes. Good luck hon. Hang in there.

Sounds like you probably just have a lot on your mind before you go to sleep. I'm a pretty bad insomniac myself, but your dreams do sound disturbing. Try to read before you go to bed. Read something positive and encouraging so that your last thoughts will be good ones before you go to sleep, ok?

Hang in there!

Your dream is evidence of your fear of death. You see dead people coming to make you like them and it frightens you. If you don't want to be afraid of dying then you should turn to Jesus so that you will have a guarantee of eternal life.

Hebrews 2:14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he (Jesus) himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
