I don't quite understand how it is done, but I am totally against it. Even though it might help me to walk again (because I am paralyzed from the waist down).

Stem cell is another medical advance toward the day when Humans will live to be 500 years old. We have been trying to meet that goal for a long time. Today, because of such research, people here in the USA are living long enough to collect their Social Security money ( when the act was passed. not many people lived long enough to enjoy the free money.)

At every advance, newspapers and TV screamed about the wonderful new techniques, etc. After a while the public found that it was no such a big deal.

Example: In the 1920's a person could die from blood-poisoning from a scratch or a splinter. There was very little doctors could do to fight the infection. Then in 1931,sulphur was discovered and it stopped most infections and prolonged life. And we have been finding new cures every month since

Stem cell is the new item that has got people jumping for joy. It is supposed to solve many ailments and conditions. Let's wait and see.

Is great to know that there are young people who care enough to ask!

stem cell taken from adults is the one were most of the research has been done up to now. I do not see anything wrong with it, and looks like there are many possibilities for the future using these cells.

Do not let the politicians confuse you. Do your research. be inform, that is the best you can do.

the stem cell research that has not been done at all is the one the politicians are trying to get you to vote and accept and that is the stem cell taken from an unborn baby or fetal stem cell research.
Using an innocent baby who has no say in the matter.

Successful experiments with adult stemcells ideally from the person who will be getting them. There have also been successes with the umbilical cord stem cells. The issue is whether to create more embryos (baby children) to experiment on. They aren't even using the ones that were authorized. There is more to this question that you realize. So far, experiments with existing embryos have not been successful because the embroy stem cells are in a state of change. If they are not using the embryonic stem cells already authorized for use, why do they want more? I'm against embryonic stem cell research.

I think we really shouldn't be getting into all that genetical stuff.
God made us the way we are for a reason why would we want to change that?
Messing with Stem Cells is messing with God.

But I suppose you could take these facts into consideration:

A South Korean woman paralyzed for 20 years is walking again after scientists say they repaired her damaged spine using stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood.

Hwang Mi-Soon, 37, had been bedridden since damaging her back in an accident two decades ago.

Last week her eyes glistened with tears as she walked again with the help of a walking frame at a press conference where South Korea researchers went public for the first time with the results of their stem-cell therapy.

Adult stem cell research could save the lives of thousands of adults who are suffering from leukemia, according to new studies involving umbilical cord blood.

A European study found that adult patients who received cord blood were as likely to be leukemia-free two years later as those who received bone marrow. In addition, a U.S. study, also published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found similar results.

I suppose stem cell research couldn't hurt but it seems like we are taking science to a new level.

Stem cell research has the potential to help eradicate diseases, improve the quality of our lives, and prolong our lives. Yes we will all still some day die but this will help us deal with deadly and debilitating diseases.

Stem cells need not come from aborted fetuses. Umbilical chord blood can also be used.

Stem cell research is the use of aborted human embryos used to treat and possibly cure numerous diseases and cancers. For example; Alzheimers, Diabetes, Leukemia, and Breast Cancer to name a few. Almost forgot, stem cells are used to treat sickle cell disease in newborn babys who are born with sickle cell disease.
