there is this hair accessory called a "donut". What you do is first get one that is close to your hair color if possible. They come in light brown, black and brown. You pull your hair through the center of this donut thing. Pull it tight. Then fan the hair around the donut and attach it with a well made, good hair elastic band (they look like a rubber band with a gold fastener to keep it together; you get a bunch of them for a buck at the dollar store. Don't buy the cheap ones, get the ones that have that gold fastener.) If you feel like you need them, you can still poke hair pins through this donut.
You usually can get the donut thing at places like Sally's Beauty Supplies. They cost a couple of bucks, and are really worth it. Makes a nice neat bun.

Put your hair in a ponytail ( you can braid it if you want) then twist and coil into a bun. Stick with bobby pins until tight.( I use a hairnet which is very helpful for shaping and getting all stray hair out of the way. Use scrunchie if you want. Take it from a ballerina who knows :-)

put your hair in a pony tail wherever you want the bun to be, and then take it from the bottom and twist it until the pony tail is all twisted, then just round it in a circle and put a hairband over it , hope this helps x
