You can't make sprinkles or jimmies; but you can make colored sugar or coconut and of course frosting. That's about it!

You could make candied orange peel by peeling oranges and making sure to cut as much of the white on the underside of the peel off. Boil for several hours, changing water every half hour. When almost translucent, pour off water and place on paper towels to dry. When just damp sprinkle with sugar and store in air tight container. These can be dried and chopped fine for sprinkles.

To color sugar orange...mix red and yellow food color together then add a few drops at a time to a jar of plain white sugar, shaking jar between drops until you get the desired color of orange you want. Make sure you have a tight fitting lid on the jar.

If you want orange-flavored sprinkles, try Tang or other powdered mix (but I'm not sure how well it'll handle baking heat, so you may want to use this as a sprinkle on frosting).

To make colored sugar, any color---mix together drops of food coloring on a plate, then start adding granulated sugar and stir well with a toothpick. A little will dissolve, but soon you'll get colored sugar. (Or use the concentrated paste colors you can get at the crafts stores, in their food sections.) Yellow and red will give you a nice orange.

Get some course ground white sugar. Put just a small drop of liquid food dye in the color of your choosing. Stir. Adjust the color by adding more food dye until its as dark as you like.
