does anyone else get those annoying calls where they use a computer to test dial your number first to see if anyone is at home? Also i find those calls where they call you up and a recording tells you to wait on the line a real pain in the a**. I don't have time to wait for people who called me to answer the phone - i think it's kind of rude.

As mentioned in some of your answers, caller ID is really great; I am also on the Do Not Call Registry (including my fax line) & both phone numbers blocked. Does this help? Only the caller ID IF I'M NEAR THE PHONE. (If I carry it around w/me I lose it.) I've kept pages of calls from same numbers, filed complaints w/Do Not Call, & even w/the FTC. Useless. The same numbers call every day of the week. I've answered on the 1st ring to find WHO they are, & they hang up. Mostly out of State.

Yes!!! What happen to the Do Not Call, bill it went into affect now a 5 months after the phone is ringing off the hook with 1-800 numbers.

I use to be woken up at 1 am three times in a week because of that!! Now im getting calls around 8am.

I hate it!!!

Some are real people asking you to take a freakin poll\quiz thingy: i say no thanks and hang up, or just pick up the phone and hang it up again

its not rude, its what it is: a waste of time talking to a tellamarketer.

Next time im going to act like im a business its i need to get their home phone numbers, can i please have your phone number!!!

or do what seinfeld did when it happen to him: "how would you like it if i called you at home"! and hang up the phone

Not too often, except when there is an election. If you are on the "Do not call List" most places will not call you. B/c if they do they can be fined. But pollsters and charities can still call. I have had caller ID for years, think it is one of the best inventions. I had not had it for 24 hours when a kid prank called my house. I called their mother back the next morning...viola', no more calls. I also have call block for free w/ my phone service.

I use to get them until Missouri got the no-call list.you call a 800 # from your home phone and it puts you on the list and after 30 days to take effect if they call your # they get fined or something like that.It works!

I'll be glad when the election is over. I constantly get recordings of vote for me and it's on my CELL! I just hang up. Recorded or not.

I just hang up. You get an instinct that it's going to be someone trying to sell you a phone or kitchen
