try mixing two parts oatmeal and one part water mixed with epsom salts. the oatmeal is good for soft skin, the epsoms too. and theyll be a good rub in high concentrations.

you can try a sugar rub if you mix 5 cups of sugar in 1 cup of water. be careful not to get it in your hair though. its a good scrub.

rinse well or beware of killer ants...

Lemon Facial Toner

1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
grated zest of one lemon
1 cup distilled water (any water should do)
2/3 cup witch hazel (you can get this at any drugstore)

Shake well before use, apply with cotton balls until face is clean. Keeps one month.

Gardener's Hand Cream

1 cup grated beeswax
1/2 cup jojba oil
2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
2 tablespoons vitamin E oil
1/2 cup sweet almond oil
9 drops essential peppermint oil
9 drops essential orange oil

Use a double boiler or a microwave to melt together the first three ingredients. Remove from heat, whisk until cool, adding the E, almond oil and essentail oils as it begins to thicken. Spoon cream into a jar and use within 3 days.

Avocado and Honey Face Pack

1 ripe avocado
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon jiuce
1 teaspoon clear honey

Mash all ingredients in a medium bowl. Chill for 30 minutes, slather over face, let sit for 10 minutes. Splash off with cool water. This is a nice one.

Strawberry Foot Exfoliant

8 strawberries
3 tablespoons kosher salt (or sea salt)
2 tablespoons olive oil

Do not overblend this mash - leave it chunky and frothy. Massage into feet, rinse and dry off. Put your feet up and relax. Eat any strawberries you didn't use.

Banana Hair Mask

1 banana
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil

Mash ingredients until creamy. Apply to hair, cover head with plastic wrap, let sit for 15-30 minutes - in the sun if possible. Rinse completely and shampoo as usual.

You could make your own bath teas, sprinkle crushed up dried rose petals, chamomile (I just rip open a chamomile tea bag), ground up lavender buds, with some essential oils and epsom salts. It creates quite a relaxing bath, especially after a long day of work, as the espom salts relax your aching muscles and the essential oils create a nice soothing and calming fragrance.

For bath milks, blend powdered milk, baking soda, epsom salt, powdered buttermilk (found in the powdered milk section at the grocer's), mix a few drops of essential oils, and pour about 1/2 to 1 full cup into bath water. The milk products are very soothing and revitalizing for the skin, and the essential oils will create a soothing quality as well.

You could also make your very own sugar or salt scrub. Just mix sugar or salt (or both, for a salty sweet scrub), with a light oil like olive or sunflower, a few drops of essential oils, and use this as a scrub whilst showering. Your skin will feel so rejuventated, and super soft!

You don't have to get technical with these types of homemade spa products. I literally 'dump and pour' the amounts I like best. Like I'll use more powdered milk than baking soda to my bath milks, and I like to use a lot of sugar in my scrubs rather than salts as I find they can be a tad drying if you use to much. And I won't use as much oils in my scrubs and might subsitute a bit for glycerin as I don't like the 'oily' feel.

HTH!

Anything with lavender is good for the mind as well as the skin. It's totally relaxing. Go to Walgreen's and get Batherapy Liquid. It's in a purple bottle w/ a white top. It's Lavender scented & it's awesome.

You can also drop a couple herbal teabags in your bathwater, or in a sinkful of hot water plugged up. Put your washcloth in it & use it on your face. Chamomile is good for that.
