Some of the psalms are attributed to David others are not. Most theologins think that most of the psalms that are attributed to David were written when he was on the run from King Saul. Some were written while David was king too. You can sometimes tell by what it says in each psalm.

Some of the Psalms tell at what point in David's life he wrote them but no one knows exactly what year they were written.
Psalms 34:1 Of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away. I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalms 51:1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
