We are sooo afraid of hurting and offending people's feelings because at the least provocation we're being branded as racist. And yet, they call us any old name they please and it's supposed to be ok, like gringos/gringas, red necks, white trash...
Frankly I'm tired of all of this.

I couldn't think of a better way to put it myself. I AGREE. Like, the blacks-- oh, excuse me-- African Americans can make the NAACP, which is judging by race, but they aren't racist (ya right), but if the white people made the National Association of White People, they would be racist. Look: blacks are *******, and whites are honkeys. See, it bleeps out that first slur (which i think is wrong to use anyway-- just using that for debate purposes, but that's beside the point), but the racial slur against whites is 'okay'. That was a long rant with a short answer: YES, I AGREE!!!

YES! Political correctness is out of control. I don't get why calling someone from Mexico a Mexican is bad. Someone from Gemany is German, Ireland, Irish and India, Indian.
I am not, "height challenged" I am short.
I am not, "folliclly challenged" I'm losing my hair. ;-)
I can understand when something is offensive such as the "N" word but to take offense to "Black" or "African" or whatever I just don't get. People are way too sensitive about things that don't really matter.

I think we should replace PC (politically correct) with PR (personal responsibility). No one is responsible for anything any more. It is always someone Else's fault, we are all victims. When I was growing up we got our kudos from overcoming problems, not wallowing in them. Our Grandparents would be ashamed of us,always looking for someone/something to blame for our condition. How could things have deteriorated so badly in such a short time?

I agree.
There are Black work shop week.
Miss Black America.
Black book sections in the book stores.
Black colleges.
Black magazine.
Black history week.
Black TV programs.
Civil Rights which = Black
Call us Ne-gro
Call us Black
Call us African American, and if you don't they turn you in to the office at work for mistreatment. And then you will have to go to classes to teach you tolerance.
Black voter drives.
Can't say boy.
Can't say gal.
Even the grades a police officer has to make on his exam is lower than for a white person.
You owe us.

The Black people in Africa right now are still
capturing and selling their own people. Put the blame where it belongs.

I picked my own cotton.

Yes. political correctness needs to remain in the realm of politics, not in dialog between peoples with a difference of opinion. A stone thrown is a stone thrown back with interest in my world. Any who try to take your guaranteed American constitutional freedoms from you are to be considered an enemy and fought with all means available to you. Censorship of written and spoken thoughts is one of the first freedoms taken away by communists. What follows is slavery. Ask a survivor of the German death camps. Ask why Cubans are willing to cross a shark infested stretch of open ocean in homemade "boats" to escape their country.

Common sense and a sense of fairness tells me you are letting your emotions rule your mind in your dealings with Latinos. Eh? The answer is not to slur back but realize all people are not nice, or good, regardless of ethnicity or country of origin. Doesn't mean you too have to sling mud. That's called maturity.

Absolutly. Been fed up for a long time. It's a 2 way street and unfortunatly too many don't realize the rules apply to them too.

It's worse than that. It is the reason fascist countries believe we are weak. They know we will gladly talk over a negotiation table for years allowing them to build whatever war machine they feel like.

Yes, both political correctness and zero tolerance have gone too far.

Both of them restrict freedom of expression and speech.

Right. We're supposed to treat criminals with dignity in the name of human rights, but because they don't agree with our views, they are entitled to turn into biggots and call us racist and call us by racial slurs. Very nice.
