Hey you can wash your hair as much as you want after you get it colored, its with a perm that you need to wait to wash it. My mom is a beverly hills salon owner for 23 years of my life,so trust me on this one. You should get a shampoo for colored hair, and never use hot water. You should always wash with warm water and end with cold. You need to run cold water over your hair after everywash. This will close the cuticle and help your hair look shiny and healthy. It will even help to ease the fluff and frizz from blow drying. As for your color you probably didn't rinse it out all the way after you colored it. If you colored it dark from a light color then you will need to color it a few times before the color will actually hold..You should also use semi-perminant color. To make it last just wrap some plastic around your hair,a shopping bag,or plastic wrap for the duration of coloring. This opens the cuticle to allow the color to penitrate the hair, rinse with cool water, use a shampoo for colored hair.

Some dye will come out the first couple of times you wash it just because it's extra, I guess. You can get shampoo/conditioner just for colored hair that doesn't strip out the color as much.

I've been using the Curly Girl system--no shampoo, except when I absolutely need it. Just wash with conditioner, and you can use shampoo at the roots if you need it (but coat the ends with conditioner.) You don't need the detergents to get your hair clean--they just fluff it up (which you don't need after coloring--the cuticles are fluffed up, anyway) and strip out natural oils and color, too. You can use lemon juice or baking soda to remove product buildup. Use products with low-foaming formulas, even watered-down baby shampoo if you want.

Try to cut down on harsh detergents and styling goop--your hair won't be dirty if you use gentle shampoo (or no shampoo at all.) I mean, do what you need to do, but be gentle with your hair and it'll respond much better. Color, shine, growth, everything--go easy on it and you won't have to fight it as much.

If you dyed your hair within the last 72hrs. you shouldn't wash your hair. The chemicals are still settling in your hair. If it's been longer, your scalp tends to be dyed as well and it just maybe the color rinsing off of your scalp. You should also use color protection shampoo and conditioner. Color glaze helps with color too. If your still rinsing color out in about a week, then maybe you shouldn't dye your hair black, or go to a professional. Your hair may not be able to hold dark color well and they can build you up to your desired color.

Before you dye your hair strip it with vinegar and then dye it. The plastic and residue in your shampoo won't let the dye set in the hair shaft. Good luck !
