I want to break up with my GF but our lease isn't up until next august. Its because of another girl, and our relationship has been rocky for a while now.

if both names are on the lease - contact the landlord and her name removed.. but you have to be able financially to pay the rent each month without her... or don't tell the landlord and just pay the rent like nothings changed.

Need more info... is the lease in both your names... does she know you want to break up with her... does this other girl want to move in with you after you break up or is it that serious yet... can you handle the rent payment without your girlfriends income... do you think she would want you to move when you tell her you are calling off the relationship... looks like you really don't know whats going to happen until you do the dirt deed of breaking the news... you have options and don't know it... why would you sign a lease with someone that you have no legal ties to... I really need more info to give advice on this one... all i can say is to go for it and see what happens... lifes to short to live with someone your not happy with and it's not fair to her that you interested in someone else either... let the cat out of the bag...

Hmmmmm
Shoulda thunked of dat afore y'all signed dat lease ting!

Why would you have entered into a long term lease with a GF as a co-lessor? If you didn't want to commit, why a long lease?

You may be in for an expensive lesson in relationship management.
First, find out from the landlord if the lease can be re-drafted with the same terms and conditions, but with different signatories.

IF the GF is willing to "buy" you out of the lease, and accept the responsibility for the property, you're off the hook, but GET IT IN WRITING before you move out.
If the GF wants to move out, find a roomie and settle in, BUT get it in writing as to responsibilities/payments as well.

There is only going to be trouble if you don't end it now. Sneaking
around to see this other women would really hurt her. As for
the lease, I'm sure the two of you could be adults and work that out. One of you can stay until the lease is up.

Break the lease and move on with your life. Or move in with the other girl and let her have the apt. and try to get your name off the lease. It can be done, but you may have to pay a fee.

Is both your names on the lease? If so then your screwed. Just have the balls to tell her you've found someone else. Don't cheat on her. She'll respect you more if you tell her the truth and who knows maybe ya'll can work something out about your lease. Good luck.

Talk to your landlord about getting out of lease, or maybe your girlfriend could get a roommate.

don't stay if your heart is with someone else. It isn't fair to her or you.
and make sure the next girl you move in with is your wife.
as far as the lease goes, I'm not sure what to tell you.

you may just be stuck with a room-mate unless the lease is not in your name. maybe......you should be honest, always the best policy. lastly I would say....why date and involve yourself with someone else...and then not expect to pay the cost of playing.
