Well, I've always called it sleep, but a more 'scientific' word is rheum. Eye snot or eye bogeys is better though. Ocular excrement?

Doctors call it "matter." It's dried tear fluid out of the tear ducts, mixed with dust etc. that settles in it in your sleep and sometimes a stray eyelash.

I prefer cole when i was young my mom would call it funk or boogers. Cole is much classier.
