I just don't get it. Just because you don't believe in God, it doesnt make you inferior, or more educated, or right. If God (or the concept God) can convert my dad from an alcholic abusive man, to a man who tries to be more christ like, then I say what's the harm, and why judge someone for it?

I'm the same way. My dad made my life hell when I was a child. Abusive, Alcoholic, and drug-addict he drove my family apart and placed my sisters and brother, and me, in situations that we should never have had in our lives...but now...he is saved. He is loving and kind, and though he struggles some times there is a genuine goodness and joy in him. I beleive that God is real and moving...I just don't understand why people can't let me live and love. I have gone out of my way to judge no one...because I have been judged myself, and I hated it...

If anyone reads this...

I just wanted you to know that I might not know you and I know you might dislike me...but I love you anyway and I hope you have an incredible day.

Well good for him. But just because it is good for him, doesn't make it right for everyone. And yes you are right what is the harm, if it is not affecting anyone else in a negative way. People answer questions because they have an opinion about a topic, what's the harm in that?

Because religion harms the world. Alcholism/drug addiction is defined as a disease by the American Medical Association, however, it's the only disease whose cure is non medical. Your father could have believed a rock was his higher power and it would have worked.

The fact is that we don't know how to, in a medical way, cure chemical addiction yet, so people cling to supernatural ways to do it. It works to a degree, however, anything can be your "higher power".

Because while agnostics & atheists (both tough words to spell) may not believe, or not be sure they believe in "God", for the most part they do believe that good spelling and good grammar are as important a factor as law in maintaining order in any society.

Alcohol only exaggerates tendencies. If your father was a nasty drunk, and is now a sober man, that's wonderful....but those tendencies are still in there. Be very wary of him.

Just because you beleive in God and the concept of God has helped your dad doesn't make your point of view right either. In reality no one really knows what or who God is. So no ones perspective is any more right or wrong than anyone else's.

that's not mans position the placed someone in heaven or hell, with that in concepts we are entitled to our personal concepts, each and every to their self. God is loving! that's between the important parts of who he's. even as it consists of salvation (in my concepts) that's going to come even as someone has chosen God or devil, and in the journey that they are prepared and prepared to stay a existence in heaven thankfully. there'll be no one which makes it to Heaven who would not sense free there no matter if or not they believed in Jesus because the Son of God or no longer. Matthew 24:13, 14 13But he that shall undergo unto the authentic, a similar will be kept. 14And this gospel of the dominion will be preached in each and every of the international for a witness unto all international locations; and then shall the authentic come. verse 13 say that he that undergo meaning he who nonetheless loves and believes no longer in hardship-free words in god yet that they elect to be with God verse 14 tells us no longer to rigidity about who knows what for each man or woman would have their personal probability of their heart to make their determination

Thank God your Dad has turned to Jesus. But people who doesn't believe in God and answers questions about him is only doing what satan has instructed them to do. That is the way he gets people to turn against God. But when judgment day comes woe be unto those that has said there is no God. Thank God I know who he is!!! Dad and family keep the faith and keep on believing in our Lord and savior

lady blue: I find, that people, who choose not to believe in God, are not necessarily bad nor evil. Yes; you are a first hand witness of the converting power of God - yes; God IS real. But, remember one thing though. God gives people the right to be wrong and should anyone decide that he or she doesn't want to have Him [God / Jesus Christ] involved in their life, he or she has that option. The problem is that people who choose not to believe in God's existence, they assume that He does not exist. This can be attributed to intellectualism, philosophy or because God did not do or act a certain way to meet expectations. A fact is this. True (genuine) science and true (genuine) "religion", (I like to refer to it as SPIRITUALITY), do prove one another. Albert Einstein the greatest Physicist, who walked this earth, saw correlation between science and God. Again; God gives people the right not to believe in Him should he or she choose not to. God could come to earth and perform a great miracle before all the nations of this world if He wanted to. But remember; seeing is NOT believing ( remember the Jewish Israelites when they saw the Red Sea open and crossed over the bottom of it on dry land? Still, they [Israelites] questioned God's ability to deliver them from danger and provide their physical needs in the desert. As you may now see why God tends to "pick His spots" when performing miracles such as the one with your Dad. God knows what is in people to discount and disbelieve His existence because He created humans. If any human alive with an open mind set goes to Him [Jesus] for a relationship with Him, He will have one with him or her. All they have to do is really mean it. Physics proves God's existence - no doubt - none, whatsoever!!! Expect people to bad-mouth and dislike believers in God because it is not socially popular to accept God into one's belief system. By the way lady blue, my brother in law is a professor of nuclear physics and he proved God's existence to me. So; most who say or profess a disbelief in God [Jesus] very well DO NOT know what they are talking about. So don't let it get to you. In the very end of the age when Jesus returns to this earth (or what's left of it), all humans ever born, will have their chance to accept His sacrifice and become a believer. WE ALL WIN IN THE END - please take heart and be happy for the future of mankind. All the best to you !!!

I wouldn't get bent out of shape about it. Consider Pascal when he said: "...there's a God Shaped Hole in every man's heart..." Logically those who've not found God would find ways means, halfhearted efforts to fill that hole.
It's akin to when Edisen invented the lightbulb, he sure had to try a lot before he got it right. ....and for those who don't believe, they'll keep coming up with answers that don't fit or answer the question quite as completely as they might surmise. ...to me, they have an entire life to search for that one answer. You simply wish them well.
