Kennel cough (bordatella)is usually a dry hacking. I haven't heard of therre being fluid involved. It has only happened to a couple of puppies I have had, but I remember it being dry.
DO NOT GIVE HIM MEDICATION UNTIL YOU GO TO THE VET!!!!!!!
Thank you for adopting a puppy! That's great. Now take him back to the shelter where you got him. Make sure that you call them first and alarm them of the symptoms. You don;t want to get the other pups sick. They shouldn't charge you if it hasn't been that long since you adopted him. Take the amoxicillin with you so if they suggest prescribing it, you can show them that you already have some.
Also, just so you know Bordatella vaccines do not work on puppies until they are 4-5 months old. I boarded my puppy at 6 months. She got another booster of the vaccine a week and a half before she went in and she still got kennel cough!

Symptoms of kennel cough include:
runny nose
coughing
choking as though there is a bone in the throat
being sick
weepy eyes
If you suspect kennel cough, you should see the vet. However, call and warn them first that you have a suspected case, because kennel cough is very contagious. They may want you to wait outside the waiting room or to bring your puppy in a carrier so as to restrict the spread of the disease. Your puppy must be kept away from other dogs for 4 full weeks after the symptoms have cleared.

a lot of shelters give you a 14 day health garauntee that you can go to them for meds, I would take him to the vet, it could be kennel cough or it could be pneumonia, the longer you wait the worse it can get and pneumonia can be fatal to these guys, but most do great. Also don't use the amoxi drops they expire within 14 days of getting mixed with the water.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kennel cough is a name used for a combination virus and bacterial infection that
affects the respiratory system. It is considered very highly contagious.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kennel cough is not just a kennel problem, as a dog can become infected by coming
in contact with just one dog that is infected with kennel cough. The dog can get
exposed to kennel cough at shows, groomers, pounds, parks and even the
veterinarians clinic.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The signs of Kennel Cough is usually a dry hacking cough that can come on with the
slightest amount of activity on the dogs part. Other symptoms that can accompany
the hacking cough are: depression, fever, loss of appetite, lack of water consumption,
and just plain acting sick.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The incubation period for Kennel Cough is 7 to 10 days. Some veterinarians will
prescribe antibiotics for the problem.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Many owners will at first think the dog has some thing caught in their throat and are
trying to bring it up. When taking the dog to the veterinarian, make sure that you
report exactly what you saw the dog doing, as this will help the veterinarian make the
proper diagnosis.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Kennel Cough will usually run its course in about ten (10) days to three (3) weeks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The dog can be made more comfortable with a cough syrup that is recommended by
your veterinarian.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is strongly recommended that the annual DHLPP vaccination be given to protect
the dog from contracting Kennel Cough protection in it to their puppies
as to their breeding stock.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately, the vaccinations are not a 100% guarantee that a dog will not get
Kennel Cough, but it is a way to help the dog develop an immunity to this disease.

listen to her lungs, and if it sounds like a washing machine take her into the vet now. I wouldn't try anything without the vet's opinion, how long have you had the amoxicillen? where did you get it? depending upon your situation, i would take her to the vet as soon as possible...
