The shine is just part of the healing process. it will go away in another couple of weeks. I tattoo is simply a controled abrasion... much like a skinned knee or something, it needs time to heal. There should not have been a scab per say, and a tat can peel 3 or more times before it is healed. DO NOT put petroleum based products on a new tattoo... they will draw out the ink. Use a water based moisturizer to keep your skin moist while healing.

The "shine" is just part of the healing proses and it will go away just don't over due it with the antibiotic ointment and if you ask any artist you should only use that for the first day after that you shouldn't and the reason is the ointment kills the good bacteria and the bad and will slow down the healing proses by killing the bacteria and i think it takes some time for the shine to go away i have had my tat for about a year and it still has a shine to it

Typically we tell people to wait at least 30 days before exposing a fresh tattoo to direct sunlight. 10 days is definitely not long enough. It's not necessarily going to mess up the tattoo too much (assuming your relative doesn't get sunburn on the tattoo...they DO NOT want to get sunburn on the tattoo. It could RUIN it.), but it will definitely be uncomfortable and really sensitive. If they keep clothing over the tattoo they will probably be okay but make sure you tell your relative to BE CAREFUL. I can't stress that enough. Obviously, they aren't going to reschedule their trip down south, but they just need to be easy on the tat while they are down here.

Don't use Vaseline. It doesnt rinse well and it traps bacteria. Use Lubriderm or a lotion that is comprable. Use UNSCENTED too. The smelly perfume in lotions may irritate it. Even though it has already scabbed, it it still in the healing process. Use the lotion as often as possible. You cant over hydrate. Give it another week or two and it will be where it is supposed to be.

Shine is normal with any new tattoo. Just keep it clean (Dial antibacterial soap) and moist (fragrance free Lubriderm is the best that I have found). Eventually the shininess will go away.

Well im sure they told u to put sum ointment on it for the scabbing to help it heal faster but as far as the shine there is nothing you can do to make it go away you just have to wait.

putting things besides what the artist tells you to use is a bad idea because it could end up getting an irritation or an infection. it takes about a month for the shinyness to go away, mayber even longer. just leave it alone, messing with it will do you more harm than good

It's all about the shine...who wants a faded old tatoo?
Enjoy the shine while it lasts.

You never want to put Vaseline on a tattoo, it will smother it, and not allow it to heal right.I would try finding a product for oily skin. Worth a shot!
