no, the engine just will not run right.

Most likely if put in wrong the car won't even start. and surely if not connected right the car wouldn't run barely at all. This should should set off a red light in your head!

the carb goes on the engine, not in it. if it is not hooked up right, you will not damage anything. the car just won't get any gas or air, so without them you have a problem.

The only thing I can think of is if something is loose and falls into the motor, then damage can occur. Or leaky fuel lines cause a fire.

No!.If the install is incorrect it will just run bad. If the adjustment is too rich or lean it could cause future problems such as fouled plugs or burned valves.

Yes, too much gas can "wash" an engine and put too much gas into the oil pan.
