You can drastically reduce the number of these calls you recieve. Sign up to the telephone preference service at

http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

and they will add your number to the opt-out list which organisations are required by law to check before calling you (If they call without your permission they can be fined). It takes about a month to start working and should help considerably. You can add your mobile number as well if you are getting cold calls on that.

Also on the same site you can sign up to the
Mailing Preference Service which will help cut junk mail addressed to you.

Yes I used to get loads, sometimes more than 3 in a week, I used to tell thats funny I've already won 2 this week. I contacted BT for the privacy thing so no calls selling anything would come through. Now I get about one every few months, it's great.

i confused 1 company when they rang, answered and hit redial(so numbers toned down phone) "where's my food delivery", bloke said he just called me and i said no, i called you and wheres my food, he then attempted to start his "sell" and i just kept on asking where my food was etc, he got pissed of after about 2 mins and hung up. lol

another thing to do is to ask to be removed from their calling lists, they are then not allowed to call you again.

another great idea, when you get a lot of Post you dont want, send the local credit company a copy of the local burger bars menu (they have prepaid stamp, so why waste it) or just send it back empty etc

if everyone in the world did this (uk postage cost0.30p for companies), imagine how much money it would cost them. lol may make em stop?

Get the telephone number off your phone provider for the company that stops these calls getting through, takes few weeks but they get stopped.

you are not the only one, i am ex-directory and the first ever call i got on my new land line phone was to offer me free beer, i told them i was a tee totaler and their offer offended me and if they ever rang back i would be forced to take legal action. another good one is to tell them that they have rung a tele-sales company so no you are not interested in what they were selling but can you interest them in the lates double glazing/block pathing/broom etc...confuses the hell out of them!!

i had 2 of those calls in one day but unlucky for them i had time to kill. the first call was from double glazing so i asked them to go through wot types and styles of windows and doors they had. after nearly 2 hours i told them that wot they had sounded nice but wot we already have in our house is much nicer lol hit hit the roof lol. then after that one i had a fone call from a mobile fone company. lol i was on a roll so i kept this guy on the fone for about an hour getting him to tell me the differences between all the fones. in the end i told him i prefered the one i`d only bought the day before lol his language was pretty impressive lol. there was another time wen a guy foned me up about mobile fones. i was in a foul mood and i told him to f*ck off and slammed the fone down on him.....he foned back about 20 seconds later, i picked the fone up to hear this guy shout out "WHY DON`T U F*CK OFF INSTEAD" and he slammed the fone down on me lol. it took me a good hour to stop laughing lol
