I haven't seen it yet, just like I haven't seen red cars cost more. the rating is based on the whole vehicle, and a diesel vehicle may be less to insure than a gas-powered vehicle, but not if they ae otherwise exactly the same model.

Well they used to be - when they were slow and sluggish, but now with the advent of Turbos, some diesel cars are quite 'sporty' - and the insurance has gone up.

But overall - yes probably they are cheaper
