ANYWAY
People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Love them anyway!
If you do good, people will accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives.
Do good anyway!
If you are successful, you will win
false friends and enemies.
Succeed anyway!
The good you do will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway!
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway!
What you spend years building may be
destroyed overnight.
Build anyway!
People really need help
but may attack you if you help them.
Help them anyway!
Give the world the best you have
and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway!

Personally I choose to follow it.

Sorry, that poem is attributed to Kent Keith.
Mother Teresa changed it to a similar quote (see source), and had it put on her wall.
Great quote, but not a Mother Teresa original, and I'm sure she'd want everyone to know it.

I love this poem: its simply beautiful!!
I feel its self explanatory: Your best intentions can and will be critizing, that can make you want to give up hope in people, but Mother Teresa of all people wrote this to say: do what you feel is right, even though people will pick it apart and say it was done because of alterior motives.
If you know what you feel in your heart is the right thing: do it! The out come may be the opposite of what you thought, but actions that are done with pure concern is powerful.
Dont let negativity stop you from doing a positive deed.

LOL!!!
Sounds like my job a a cop.
Mother Teresa was a very strong, blessed and courageous woman.
I'm a cop and a soldier and I don't know if I could ever be half as strong or achieve even a quarter of what she managed to accomplish.
And she did it all with grace while still being able to love everybody anyway.
I so love another quote of hers:
"I know God will not give me anything I can't handle"
"I just wish He didn't trust me so much"
Lord, ain't that the truth?

Gee, if we all did that, wouldn't we live in a wonderful
world? She was a beautiful person who did good at
all times regardless of the terrible circumstances or
outcome. She surely was a true Christian person.
Always do your best. You'll be glad you did.

Magnificent. Its expression of the essence of the Golden Rule reminds me of another poem, sometimes called "Risk" (author unknown).
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach for another is to risk involvement.
To expose your ideas, your dreams,
before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To believe is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the
greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The people who risk nothing, do nothing,
have nothing, are nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but they cannot learn, feel, change,
grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes they are slaves;
they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.
